The current food culture is gummed with lots of unhealthy fast foods due to several reasons. Majority falls with lack of time to cook. People spent on spending time in restaurants, hotels and popular places to mix with hi fi groups and enjoy and establish good relationship with those in high positions and those who have good reputation. There are youngsters who spend most of their time outside with their friends and office mates. They all eat and enjoy fatty fast food and even get addicted to alcohol. Eating fast food make the youngsters contended and make them feel happy and proud to eat food in big restaurants. People are generally attracted by the posh environments and the warm welcome of hotel/restaurant staff. Gathering at these locations apart from food also force them to eat hotel foods.

The kind of food we eat plays a significant role in the way our body looks and functions. A single simple portion of food has the power to make us happy, energetic, inactive, satisfied, sleepy, nervous etc. According to yogic moralities, it is very important that the meal you eat contains food from which just fulfils your desires but also nourishes your body from the inside by taking positive pranic foods. The body has its own ways of storing the energy in many layers and here you are in charge of fuelling it.

Ayurveda suggests you to avoid excessive intake of ‘negative’ pranic foods in your diet: Foods that are negative in nature do not contribute anything to the body’s or the mind’s growth. Any food that is prepared mechanically, in a negative fashion and goes through excessive processing, will affect you. The foods which we eat go through under various kind of processing cycle, taken out their prana and makes them lifeless and of no use.

We can simply categorize all foods into 3 types.

Positive Pranic Foods:

Winter melon (Ash Gourd)
Lemon
Honey
Coconut
Dates
Nuts and seeds
Raw and dried fruits
Ripe vegetables

Spices

Sprouted green grams
Whole grains
Legumes (peas, beans, lentils, etc.)
Cereals (rice, buckwheat, barley, millet, oats, teff, spelt etc.)

These positive pranic foods are high on nutritional value and can also help cure illnesses and provide vital energy for vigilance, maintain and rejuvenate the nervous systems, and intellect in the body. They uplift and enhance your energy levels, fulfil your health needs and actually help our body to retain positive energy, which can help heal so many problems and issues. Among the positive category foods, Ash Gourd and Honey are considered to be extremely positive food types. Too much of anything good for nothing. Therefore, consume them in moderate levels. Excess of it can cause problems.

Apart from this, you also can follow a positive pranic diet, Ayurveda suggest eating rainbow food – which is basically made by containing fruits and vegetables from varied food groups. Adopted in the right manner, it can lead you to a more holistic lifestyle.

Negative Pranic food takes your life energy away. Even though there are numerous benefits claimed for garlic and onions in Ayurveda, garlic tops in the negative pranic list. Ayurveda specifically and strongly recommends you to avoid these two garlic, and onions in your food diet to have a healthy pranic body other than the few medicinal reasons. They can give a super boost for a moment but in the long term they tend to haphazard the energy from the body.

Neutral Pranic food doesn’t do much, really, other than making you lethargic and laziness. An active healthy adult can eat them, but for those who have joint pains or Arthritis they should be better to avoid them.

Food is like the fuel for the body, if we put right kind of fuel in the machine only then it will function to its full capabilities. Instead, many of us fall into a “food coma.” And then we need coffee, tea, and other stimulants to pick ourselves up and go on with the day. Sadly, a lot of people take it as a fact of life and an inevitable state of being. Daily food choices are essential to support good energy levels and ways of being. Rethink about your food and eating habits.
